In Joker: Folie à Deux, the actor's singing talents impressed his teammate.

It is no longer a secret to anyone, Joker: Madness for Two will borrow heavily from the musical. Between song and dance, this sequel to the Joker (2019) promises to be a killer entertainment led by an already iconic comedy duo: Lady Gaga (Harley Quinn) and Joaquin Phoenix (Joker). Locked up in Arkham Asylum, our two lovebirds will try to escape and make their voices heard by the whole world – voices that are just but discordant.

Recently, the singer had explained how her vocal performance for this film would be unprecedented, as she had to forego her vocal talents to best embody her character. But just as there was no Cher without Sonny, there is no Harley Quinn singing without her musical partner. Arthur is also the first to hum a tune in the trailer released a few weeks ago – the music being an integral part of the character.

Also, just like the professional singer, Joaquin Phoenix sang along to Joker: Madness for Two. And just like her, he explained to Empire that his singing sequences should not be perfect:

“He's not a singer, and he must not have the voice of a professional singer. He must sing like anyone else in the shower.”

In the same interview, the actor even made an anecdotal revelation about his partner:

“I think she even spat out her coffee the first time she heard me sing. It was nice, it was great, and it gave me confidence.”

Lady Gaga impressed by Joaquin Phoenix's vocal talents? It must be said that this is not the first time that the actor sings on screen. In 2005, in the biopic Walk the Linesigned James Mangold, he interpreted, as well as singing, Johnny Cash. For this film, he was nominated for an Oscar and won the Golden Globe for best actor.

Joaquin Phoenix also highlighted the creative harmony between him and the singer. Joker: Madness for Two will be a musical love story to be discovered in theaters from October 2.
