The actor who played Kang in Ant-Man 3 and Loki was supposed to be the big baddie in the next Avengers film.

This was the big announcement from Comic Con this weekend: Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not as Iron Man, but as Victor Von Doom (Fatalis in the comics in French), masked dictator and eternal nemesis of the Fantastic Four. And he will be the big bad guy ofAvengers: Doomsdayscheduled for April 2026.

Doom therefore replaces Kang, introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and who was supposed to be the big bad guy in this episode ofAvengers initially named The Kang Dynasty.

But that was before his actor Jonathan Majors was accused of assaulting his partner, which notably led to his ouster from the MCU. Found guilty of assault and harassmenthe is currently undergoing a one-year domestic violence awareness program.

Tabloid site TMZ tracked down and then cornered Majors on the street, asking him how he felt following the weekend's announcement. “I'm still heartbroken, of course! I love Kang. But Doom is still badass.”.

While Majors probably has no future in the MCU anymore (there's not even a joke about him in Deadpool & Wolverine), and that his “Oscar film” Magazine Dreams has fallen into limbo, He should nevertheless play a CIA agent in a thriller by Martin Villeneuve (brother of Denis) called Merciless.
