“I can't wait to give the fans a new film as a gift,” enthuses Neve Campbell.

We didn't expect so much. While the last part of the horror saga Scream was done without Neve Campbellwho had decided to withdraw from the project after disagreements over her salary, the bigwigs at Spyglass had backpedaled and granted her the raise she requested.

The franchise veteran, who has played the role of Sidney Prescott since the first film in 1996, had decided to return to be manhandled by Ghostface for the seventh opus, in preparation. Better still, the actress revealed to AND that Sydney would be at the heart of the plot of Scream 7. “We will follow Sidney”she revealed.

After Scream V And VIdedicated to a new generation of young people hunted by the serial killerit seems that the producers want to ride the wave of the return of Jamie Lee Curtis In Halloween Ends in 2022. Although she hasn't yet laid eyes on the script, Neve Campbell is more than excited about the project:

“They pitched me the concept, and that’s why I jumped at the chance. […] I love these movies, it’s so much fun to be a part of them. I’m so grateful. I never could have imagined being a part of something that would have lasted for so many decades. The fans are crazy, they’re amazing and very passionate about these movies. I can’t wait to give them the gift of a new one!”

While the return of Neve Campbell is good news for fans, who missed her in the last installment, despite the presence of two other deans, Courteney Cox And David Arquettewe cannot help but see it as an (ingenious) way of making people forget the scandal that broke out around Melissa Barreraousted from production after comments deemed controversial by her employers on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A forced departure which was followed by those of Jenna Ortegawho played Barrera's sister in the last two films, and Christopher Landon, who was to take over the reins left by the directing duo. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin/Tyler Gillett.

So the franchise needed some good news. And there might be more surprises in store. Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and Patrick Dempsey (whose character, Mark Kincaid, reportedly married Sydney Prescott off-camera), are reportedly in talks to reprise their roles. Campbell declined to confirm or deny the information.

In parallel, Kevin Williamsonco-writer of Scream 1, 2 And 4producer of the others, will be at the helm of this project which will be his second film as director (after Mrs. Tingle in 1999).

Next step? The filming of the movie, scheduled for next December.
