Marvel makes a triumphant return, followed closely by an unwavering French action film and a summit duel between two animated productions (Source: le Film Français).

Bad luck for the count of Monte Cristo which, after four weeks of operation, had finally managed to impose itself at the first place of the French box office, ahead of Inside Out 2 And Despicable Me 4. With his trademark irreverence, Deadpool Ryan Reynolds – the only new item in this top – kicks the anthill of this summer ranking into gear and starts off strong with more than 1.2 million tickets sold in just one week.

It must be said that the superhero anti-hero film was able to benefit from exemplary promotion, resting on the shoulders of its two main actors, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackmanbut also, and perhaps above all, on the mystery surrounding his possible cameos. It is clear that, compared to his new Marvel sidekicks, Deadpool & Wolverine overperforms: for example, the latest film released by the department of Kevin Feige, The Marvelshad only had 370,000 admissions in its first week.

On the other hand, if he does better than Deadpool 2 (2018) and its 1,186,000 admissions in its first week, this new film did not succeed in attracting as many spectators as the very first part of the saga, which reached 1.5 million admissions in seven days.

PATHE FILMS – M6 FILMS – FARGO FILMS

Our French superhero is giving up his place, but is not idle either, with more than 680,000 new spectators. A figure that allows the Count of Monte Cristo to easily cross the 5 million admissions mark, with a 31% drop in attendance, a “reduction of the weakest” according to The French Film.

The bronze medal of this top 10 goes to Despicable Me 4 which brought out 580,000 more people this week, for a cumulative total of more than 2.7 million admissions. Gru and Company are thus valiantly approaching 3 million, with a lower performance compared to the previous installment of the Universal saga which, with equal weeks of operation, had already exceeded this milestone with more than 3.8 million admissions.

Another Disney movie in the ranking, Inside Out 2 comes down from the podium to settle for fourth place. A sixth week of operation which marks the feat of seven million admissions, twice as many as the first part in 2015.

A little something extrawhich needs no introduction after thirteen weeks in theaters, still resists the invader and remains in fifth position at the box office with 183,000 convinced spectators. In doing so, the film byArtus is approaching ten million admissions with a cumulative total of 9.6 million tickets sold.

Twisters
Universal

Storm Twisters quickly ran out of steam. The disaster film fell two places in the rankings and came in sixth, with 144,000 more spectators for a total of 457,631 admissions. We are still a long way from the heights reached by the original film in 1996, which, after two weeks of operation, had already attracted 1.5 million curious people. Nevertheless, the film did better than the Everything but you who saw Glen Powell give the reply to Sydney Sweeney ; and much better than its director's previous films, too, Lee Isaac Chungboth of which went under the radar of the French BO with 69,000 admissions for Minari and 467 for Munyurangabo.

The rest of the ranking does not exceed 100,000 weekly entries. The Minionthe SND comedy of the summer, lost a place by attracting only 60,000 curious people for a total of 174,500 admissions. That's twenty thousand more admissions than A Quiet Place: Day 1eighth after five weeks in theaters, for a total of 840,397 tickets. Eighth, certainly, but first in the franchise started by John Krasinski in 2018.

Another film playing with the codes of horror, Longlegs lost another place and only attracted 28,000 spectators. A figure that allows it to hope to exceed 150,000 admissions next week.

To close this top 10: Santoshwhich continues to bring up the rear despite the release of Horizon: An American Sagawhich was ninth last week. The Indian dramatic thriller, distributed by Haut et Court on 158 copies, brought 27,000 people to the seats of dark rooms this week, for a total of 70,000 admissions.

Next week we will see if Tomer Sisley has made a successful comeback in Largo Winch, and if Ti West will have successfully closed its horror trilogy.
