The Chicago Bears aren't waiting around for wide receiver DJ Moore to hit free agency. They've rewarded their star wide receiver with a four-year, $110 million contract extension, according to multiple reports.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says the contract includes $82.6 million guaranteed and the $27.5 million average annual value ranks seventh in the NFL among receivers.

Moore's deal is the most lucrative in Bears history.

Moore, who is expected to stay with the Bears through the 2029 season, was on a three-year, $61.9 million contract with the Carolina Panthers before being traded two years ago.

With him set to become a free agent in 2025, Moore's deal wasn't likely to move things forward for general manager Ryan Poles.

However, given the contracts being handed out to receivers across the league – five players will make $30 million or more per season, and Dallas Cowboys rising star CeeDee Lamb is waiting in line – signing Moore now could save money and make a key offensive player happy.

Moore had an impressive year in his first season with the Bears in 2023 with 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs for someone who already had three 1,100-yard seasons under his belt in Carolina.

With Caleb Williams, the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, under center this season and beyond, the Bears clearly expect Moore to be their favorite target for years to come.

Moore is fast, has a precise route and reliable hands, especially in high-jump situations. Former Bears quarterback Justin Fields trusted Moore to get up and make plays deep last season, and he showed plenty of responsiveness.

It will be interesting to see what the Poles decide to do with veteran receiver Keenan Allen, whom they acquired via trade from the Los Angeles Chargers this summer.

Allen is a reliable player on the field, having had over 100 receptions in four of the last five seasons for Los Angeles. However, durability has been an issue for Allen, who has missed 11 games over the last two seasons due to injury.

In 13 games for a struggling Chargers team last season, Allen was a bright spot, catching 108 of 150 targets for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns with Justin Herbert at quarterback.

If Allen has another solid season, will the Poles be aggressive and lock him down to keep what many NFL experts consider a lethal receiving duo in Chicago?
