Kiyotaka Oshiyama, animator on The Wind Rises, signs his first film here.

Adapted from a manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimotothe author behind the success of Chainsaw Man, Look Back was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival last June and will be making a brief appearance in movie theaters in September, on September 21 and 22.

While waiting for this ephemeral release, the distributor Eurozoom unveils the trailer for the film, which presents itself as an almost meta anime on the reflections that can surround the profession of mangaka, and perhaps also a little that of filmmaker for Kiyotaka Oshiyamaits director.

“Fujino, a gifted teenager, has absolute confidence in her talent as a budding mangakaannounces the official synopsis. Kyômoto, she hides in her room and tirelessly practices the same art. Two young girls from the same provincial town, whose fervent passion for drawing will bring them together and unite them with an unbreakable bond…”

Look Back is the first production by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, who has thus produced a film of less than an hour overflowing with emotion and poetry. It must be said that the Japanese illustrator and animator has learned his trade with the greatest, notably on the development of the Wind risesGhibli production directed by Hayao Miyazaki in 2013.

His CV also mentions his participation in the animations of Letter to Momo, Mary and the Witch's Flower, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos and the animated series Chainsaw Man.
