Twenty years later, the actors return as the original characters.

The 2000s saw their fair share of teen comedies – some of which have gone down in history, such as Freaky Friday: In My Mother's Skin. Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) is a rebellious teenager who doesn't really get along with her mother, Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis). One Friday night, unlike any other, the family decides to go out to an Asian restaurant. After an argument, the owner hands them a seemingly uninteresting fortune cookie, which will change the lives of these two women. Tess finds herself in her daughter's body, and Anna in her mother's body. Each takes the opportunity to give the other what she lacks: Tess tones down her daughter's rock side and Anna gives her mother a less uptight and cooler look. But nothing goes as planned…

While Jamie Lee Curtis won for this film (remake of a Freaky Friday (1977 with Jodie Foster) the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy, more than twenty years later, she returns in the role of Tess for the sequel recently announced by Disney – Freaky Friday 2.

Freaky Friday 2: Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis start filming

After making the start of filming official last June with a photo of the two actresses already swapping places, it is now behind-the-scenes images and videos that are circulating on social networks. We see Lindsay Lohan and Jame Lee Curtis in very rock n'roll outfits, leaving a record store. Has Anna picked up the guitar again?

They're not the only ones coming back either. Also reprising their roles will be Christina Vida Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Rosalind Chao, Stephen Tobolowsky, Mark Harmon and the one fans have been waiting for, Chad Michael Murray. The latter is officially back in the role of Jake, the bad boy Anna was in love with. For the occasion, Walt Disney shared on insta a first photo of the actor riding his bike again.

Also in attendance will be: Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto (The Acolyte), new love interest. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, Freaky Friday 2 will likely be released in 2025. Although its plot is not yet known, the lead actress has said that she is taking guitar lessons for her role and that she also has a daughter in the film. Should we expect the body swap to be between Anna and her daughter? Or between all three?
