“Life is about learning from the best…”, the actor wrote when taking over the torch from the Twister star.

VSThis appearance is for him and for the fans of Twister. I thought it was really cool of them to find a way to incorporate me into it. I wanted to be a conduit for Dad's spirit. I wish he was the one appearing in this new chapter instead of me, but I'm happy to do it.

A few days ago, James Paxton paid tribute to his father who died prematurely from heart disease in 2017. Bill Paxton was the star of Twister in 1996; almost thirty years later, his son made an appearance in Twistersand he defended this decision at its American premiere. James does not appear in the lead role, however, since it is played by Glen Powell (tied with Daisy Egard-Jones).

The comedian, who has become very popular since Top Gun: Maverickalso wanted to honor the memory of Bill Paxton at the time of the release of Lee Isaac Chung's film. After explaining that he had not wanted to shoot a direct sequel, nor to literally reprise the same role as his model, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), accompanying his message with smileys and a pretty photo:

“When Twisters going out all over the world, I wanted to tip my hat to the legend that is Bill Paxton.

A good friend of mine, who saw poetry in the natural world.

His shoes are impossible to fill, but life is about learning from the best.”

No kissing scene in Twisters… because of Steven Spielberg?

Twisters got off to a strong start at the US box office, with audiences seemingly delighted to see such an entertaining disaster movie back on the big screen. Here's the trailer:
