Nicolas Cage terrified of AI and facial modeling

“I don't want you to be able to do things with my face and body when I'm dead.”

While it will be terrifying in theaters this week, on the poster for the film Longlegs, Nicolas Cage is already preparing his next project, the series Spider-Man Noir in live action for Amazon Prime Video.

In fact, in the middle of a recent interview for the New Yorker, he confided that he had to leave for a rather special meeting: “I have to slip away for the needs of the series. I'm going to have a scan of my face done. And also a scan for another film that I'll do after… Two scans in one day!”

Nicolas Cage thus confided to the New Yorker that he was terrified of this type of session for ethical reasons: “They're going to put me in a computer and match my eye color and change my face… I'm not sure what they're going to do, really. They're just going to steal my body and do whatever they want with it via digital AI!”

And the 60-year-old actor continued, looking worried: “God, I hope that's not it! I hope it's not AI generated. I'm terrified of it. I wonder if this is the end of the truth for artists? Aren't we going to be replaced? Aren't my image going to be transmogrified (video game term)? And the heartbeat? Where's the heartbeat going to be in all this? You know what I mean? What are you going to do with my body and my face when I'm dead? I don't want you to be able to do anything with these doubles of me!”

The story of Spider-Man Noir will tell the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator (played by Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one and only superhero in a film noir setting. He won't be Peter Parker, however, which will mark a significant change from the comics, where the character Spider-Man Noir is a black version of Peter Parker.

Oren Uzielbehind the film Mortal Kombat of 2021, will be the writer and executive producer of the series, alongside Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher). Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve) should direct the first two episodes.
