The epic western didn't draw the crowds, but still took first place among new releases.

While Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 suffered during its launch at the US box office last weekend, the western held up rather well in France. Kevin Costner attracted 37,200 spectators to French cinemas on its first day (Wednesday) and is at the top of the new releases ranking.

The French Film

A success to be tempered since Horizon has a high combination of theaters (521 copies) and the average is therefore not great: 71 tickets per theater. This is less than the numbers 2 and 3 of the ranking, the French film Elyas (114) and the manga Blue Lock – Nagi episode (182).

Nevertheless, Kevin Costner does better than his last film. That was 20 years ago and it was already an epic western: Open Range had attracted 21,681 spectators on its French release day, February 25, 2004.
