Zenithal: Xavier Lacaille foments a Machiavellian plan [bande-annonce]

In his first film, Jean-Baptiste Saurel mistreats toxic masculinity by using situational comedy.

“Together for 10 years, Francis and Sonia no longer understand each other. As they try to save their relationship, Francis finds himself accused of the murder of his former rival Ti-Kong. Fleeing the police, he falls into the clutches of a freewheeling surgeon, ready to do anything to defend male domination. Sonia then takes action to rescue Francis, her couple, and restore peace between the sexes. After the era of the genital… the hour of the zenith has come.”

In a first teaser, the plot of Zenithalreveals itself as an escalation of the absurd already distilled in its synopsis: “A couple, a separation, men who doubt, women who struggle, a murder, an investigation, tenderness, action, sauce, an iron, a very, very evil surgeon with a Machiavellian plan , a mean banana and above all love.” A crescendo movement that says a lot but almost not enough about what this offbeat comedy will be about gender relations and a toxic form of masculinity.

While Paramount is barely unveiling the first teaser from the Serie Zorro with Jean Dujardinin which he participates as director, Jean-Baptiste Saurel unveils the first images of Zenithalhis first feature film. In it, he questions themes already addressed in his short films such as Retrosex (2019), La Bifle (2012), or even SwordsmenNamely, the war of the sexes, which he always approaches in a raw, head-on and, above all, funny way.

For Zenithalwhich he co-wrote with Elodie Wallacehe surrounds himself with comedic talents who are part of a new generation: Vanessa Guide (The New Adventures of Aladdin), Xavier Lacaille (Parliament, Repeat), Cyril Guei (Tamara) or Bruno Gouery (Emily in Paris) are giving the reply alongside Frank Bruno (Gaston Lagaffe), Rebecca Finet And Anaïde Rozam (The Olympics, Mine).

Zenithal will be released in theaters on August 21.
