Kevin Feige has confirmed that the new film will take place outside of the traditional MCU timeline.

As many fans had already spotted on the first poster of Fantastic Four version 2025, Matt Shakman's film will take place neither in the present of the MCU nor in the same timeline. Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel, confirms this today in the official House of Ideas podcast: “ It's a period film (…) And in the image that we broadcast where we can see Johnny Storm flying in the air and forming a “4” in the sky, there was an urban landscape which didn't exactly look like the New York we know, or even the New York in the 60s in our world. A few smart people have noticed this and I would say they are intelligent observations. » We imagine that the Fantastic Four will end up in one way or another in the main MCU timeline, or that other superheroes will come to them.

And Feige also announces that filming will begin on July 29, just after San Diego Comic Con. Matt Shakman is already in London preparing for the first shots. “ I'm especially excited because these characters are pillars of the Marvel Universe that we haven't really gotten to have fun with yet, other than in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and for a few little teases », specifies Kevin Feige.

Fantastic Four is due out on July 23, 2025. The cast includes Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm). For the supporting roles, we also know that John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser and Natasha Lyonne will be present.
