John Woo himself revisits his cult 1989 film, where Chow Yun-fat played a hitman.

Peacock has revealed the first images of the film, which will be released on August 23 on the streaming platform. It does not yet have a release date in France, where NBCUniversal's service is called Universal+.

Released in 1989, The Killer tells the story of a Hong Kong hitman, played by Chow Yun-fat, who accidentally injures a cabaret singer (Sally Yeh) in the eyes during a shootout. During the months that followed, he attended all of her performances and ensured her protection. To help him pay for a corneal operation to prevent him from going blind, he agrees to eliminate a triad boss.

The remake takes place in Paris, and the plot is slightly different. It's Nathalie Emmanuel who slips into the shoes of an assassin refusing to kill a visually impaired woman (Diana Silvers) on behalf of Sam Worthington. Omar Sy plays the role of the inspector in charge of the case. Eric Cantona, Tchéky Karyo and Grégory Montel complete the cast.
