“It only works if they come back,” teases the director.

Kevin Smith has never hidden his desire to take control of his comedy Dogmain which Ben Affleck And Matt Damon played two fallen angels dreaming of returning to Paradise. Also starring Linda Fiorentino, Salma Hayek, Alan Rickman, Chris Rock, Jason Lee and Alanis Morissette (in God!), the film was distributed by Miramax in 1999, and its rights were complicated for its director to recover.

If Smith ever could pursue Clerks Or Jay and Silent Bobhe “didn’t want to deal with Harvey Weinstein”his former producer. “In no way”he insists. Now that he has regained the rights to Dogmahe intends to release it in 4K, already, then give it a sequel. “A real sequel”he clarified during the Vulture festival this weekend. Which would therefore be carried by its two original actors.

[Le fait de récupérer ses droits] gives us the possibility of offering it sequels or of turning it into a TV version, we will be able to continue this story, welcomes the director. I know there are people who will scream, tell us: 'Don't f***ing touch this movie! You'll ruin it.' Well let me tell you: I will. This idea has been tickling me for a long time and I found a way to come back to it.”

“You can expect a cameo from Ben and Matt, he continues. Even more than that, in fact, because the only good way to follow up Dogmais that they are part of it. It only works if they're there. I was able to make them hope for this sequel for 25 f***ing years, that's why they always agreed to spend a face in my films.”
