The trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur has just been released.
A few weeks later Gladiator 2 in the cinema, the Roman fighters return to the arena. This time on television in the new series Spartacus: House of Ashur. It will be the continuation of the famous cult series of the 2010s, which began with Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
The death of the main actor, Andy Whitfieldwho died of lymphoma just after filming this season 1, did not prevent Spartacus to continue. First with Spartacus: Gods of the Arenabroadcast in 2011. Then, it was Liam McIntyre who became the hero of Spartacus: Vengeance in 2012 and Spartacus: War of the Damned in 2013.
12 years later, the American channel Starz relaunched the peplum. It will be called Spartacus: House of Ashur and it is Nick Tarabay (The Expense) which will make the hyphen. His character was an intelligent and scheming Syrian slave, who rose from nothing (he had narrowly escaped death during the massacre at the House of Batiatus) to make a place for himself with the Romans, helping them put down the slave rebellion and conspiring with Lucretia. He was one of the villains of Spartacus: Vengeance. Absent from War of the Damnedhe had been left for dead.
But Spartacus: House of Ashur will bring him back: “What if Ashur hadn't died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? What if he had received the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus as a gift in exchange for helping the Romans kill Spartacus and put end to the slave rebellion? This will be the synopsis of the new season.
The original creator, screenwriter and producer, Steven S. DeKnightwill still be the showrunner of House of Ashur.
This season 5 of Spartacus will be broadcast in fall 2025. No exact date yet.
