Vice President Kamala Harris has gone 106 days as the presumptive and now official Democratic nominee for president without holding a formal press conference.
Trump has held at least six news conferences in which he took questions from the media since early August. Harris has made several brief, informal news conferences this week with the media during her campaign, including on Monday when she criticized the tone and rhetoric of Trump's New York rally over the weekend. On Saturday, she appeared on NBC's “Saturday Night Live” as herself during the show's cold open.
She gave a speech Tuesday in Washington, D.C., outlining her path forward for the United States and how it differs from what she calls Trump's radical and dark vision.
Harris also ended her streak of not appearing on Fox News last month, sitting down for an interview in Pennsylvania with chief political anchor Bret Baier. She also did a CNN town hall and interviews in recent days with NBC News, Telemundo and CBS, as well as several podcasts and local news channels in recent weeks.
KAMALA HARRIS SAYS HER PRESIDENCY “WON’T BE A CONTINUATION” OF BIDEN’S
Harris ramped up her interviews in October, including radio hits, guest appearances with “The View,” Stephen Colbert and Howard Stern and other media appearances.
But as for when she will hold an official press conference as a candidate, that won't happen until two days before the election.
Conservative Radio Libre host Jorge Bonilla believes Harris should do a press conference, but said it's almost “irrelevant” because she continues to get a pass.
HARRIS AVOID QUESTION ABOUT FALLING PRICES BY DESCRIBING THE ROOTS OF THE “MIDDLE CLASS”: NEIGHBORS “PROUD OF THEIR LAWN”
“She is very unlikely to hold a press conference because the media has enabled and encouraged her 'plexiglass basement' strategy, in which she preserves the illusion of being there while remaining completely inaccessible to the press and therefore irresponsible,” Bonilla told Fox News Digital. .
Trump has skipped several potential interviews in recent weeks, but he did show up at the annual Al Smith dinner, which has traditionally seen presidential candidates doing light roasts. Harris decided not to attend, instead sending a video message.
CBS NEWS BREAKS SILENCE ON WRITING ALLEGATIONS IN 60 MINUTES INTERVIEW WITH HARRIS
Harris also did an interview last month on “60 Minutes” that generated controversy due to the show's editing choices with a response she gave to a question about Israel. In a preview of the October 6 interview, CBS aired part of his response, but appeared to air a completely different part during the October 7 special.
