He says he is finishing writing the script, but…
A little over a year after the book's release, Heat 2 is getting closer to a trip to the cinema.
For the moment, the project is still in slow motion. If the names ofAdam Driver And Austin Butler have circulated for the leading roles, no casting has been announced, nor any filming date. For good reason: the scenario is not ready.
Michael Mann is currently finishing writing the screenplay for Heat 2 (which will be based on his novel of the same name) and then he will see with Warner Bros. Pictures which has not yet validated anything, nor given the green light to production. He explains to Collider:
“I'm finishing the script right now, and actually, at 2:30 this morning, it woke me up in the middle of the night… I started writing the script again, and I ended up crossing LA at 3 o'clock in the morning, which is fantastic, because there are no cars, and I ended up at Canter's Delicatessen (a restaurant) because it's the only place open 24 hours…”
Brief, Michael Mann refines the writing and concludes: “Nothing is certain yet. The sky could still fall on our heads”he said, suggesting that the start of construction Heat 2 is not yet guaranteed. “The film is in the hands of Warner Bros. I'm writing the script for them and I hope we move forward as quickly as possible.”
