Washington DC thief leaves message in Ring security camera

Washington DC bandits were caught on camera leaving an unsolicited message on surveillance video amid a series of mailbox thefts.

Thieves were caught in recent footage stealing from residents' mailboxes in a Northwest DC neighborhood, according to video footage obtained by FOX 5.

In the footage, the mask-wearing thief was seen speaking directly to the Ring surveillance camera.

“I love you, Dad,” the thief says in the footage.

In the footage, four thieves can be seen ransacking the building's mailboxes.

The residents are an ongoing problem in the neighborhood.

“It's frustrating. I feel like there's no recourse. I can't call the police even though I have them on video,” Adams Morgan told FOX 5.

Residents said their Amazon packages simply disappeared from their homes.

“Luckily, Amazon is good enough to refund them or send another package,” Morgan said.

Detectives are offering a $100,000 reward for information regarding the series of thefts. (FOX 5)

Postal inspectors told the local media outlet they were reviewing surveillance video.
