‘The Young and the Restless’ star Eric Braeden announces he’s ‘cancer-free’: ‘To hell with that’

Eric Braeden, best known for his portrayal of Victor Newman on the hit soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless’, has announced he is cancer free.

The 82-year-old shared an update on his health with his fans on Facebook Live Sunday.

“I’m cancer free. They couldn’t find that fucking thing. Isn’t that nice?” Braeden revealed on social media. “So thank you for all your good thoughts. All your prayers mean a lot to me.”

Although he is now cancer-free, the soap opera star said his health journey is not over and detailed the next steps in his process.

Braeden explained that he had to undergo various treatments, including three prophylactic infusions containing “substances that apparently kill cancer”.

The veteran actor added that he is awaiting the results of his MRI to confirm that the cancer has not spread.

“And then I should be free for a while,” he added. “Once in a while, every few months, I’ll have another cystoscopy, all to find this fucking thing early and fight it. To hell with that.”

“I love life, man. Why not me?” he told his fans in the 25-minute video. “I work on the #1 show. It’s been #1 for 38 years now. Why should I complain? That would be obscene.”

In May, Braeden revealed his “scary” prostate cancer was initially misdiagnosed.

The misdiagnosis prompted Braeden to publicize his condition and encourage men not to be afraid to go to the doctor.

Braeden spoke candidly about his diagnosis and noted that while “the word cancer is scary,” he suggested that men should constantly monitor their health.

“I just want men to know that they shouldn’t be afraid of this. I want them to know that they should have your prostate checked, have your bladder checked, have your colon checked,” he said. said during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” at the time.

The German actor went public with his prostate cancer in April. While battling the disease, Braeden worked full-time on daytime drama and remained positive through his extensive treatments.
