“David would never have made a #2 if he hadn't found a way to surpass the first film…”
Ten years after the success ofIt Followsits creator David Mitchell announced that he wanted to film its sequel. A big surprise, because if this clever horror film had enjoyed great critical success when it was released during the summer of 2014 (and in the winter of 2015 here), the director seemed to have moved on to something else: he shot the equally fascinating Under the Silver Lake with Andrew Garfield, and is currently preparing a dino movie with Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.
Maika Monroethe main actress of ItFollowswill be showing this summer in another anticipated horror production, Longlegs (also with Nicolas Cage) and she logically does not escape questions about her return in this sequel…
It Follows: the creepiest film seen in a long time [critique]
“You will know more very soon, she first responds to Collider. If you saw the first one, and I take no credit for it, you know how brilliant David is. He is very talented. The film was completely transformed at one point, it had succeeded in overturning the codes of the horror genre, and I know that it would never have made a number 2 if it had not found a way to surpass the first movie. He is interested in very specific aspects of cinema, he refuses so many projects… In fact, he knows what he wants. At first, I said to myself: 'Wait, a sequel? But where are we going with this?' Then I read the script and it was so good. I can't wait to try it, it's really good. I think when you find Jay, you're going to be surprised, and at the same time it will be so cool. I know everyone says that about sequels, but this is true: it will be bigger, darker and even crazier. Completely crazy. The reading was crazy.”
“I'm really, really excited about this role! continues the 31-year-old actress. It's even the first time in a long time that I've wanted to immerse myself in a film so much. I'll have lots of things to play, it will be a real challenge, that's for sure, but I know it will be rewarding. And then I can't wait to find David again, to work with him again, too.”
