The Acolyte: where is season 2?

The finale clearly opens the door to a sequel, which creator Leslye Headland has planned but has not yet written.

No, this is not a limited series. The Acolyte has just finished its first season, on Disney Plus. The last episode, broadcast this Wednesday on Disney Plus, wraps up a lot of plots, but opens many doors for a sequel. Warning: spoilers!

We first think of Osha's training in the arts of the dark side, by the mysterious Sith and the one who observes them in the shadows, certainly Darth Plagueis. We also think of the role that Yoda could play in this season 2. Or the story of Master Vernestra Rwoh, whose Padawan has twisted towards the darkness “to be able to be free, to be who he is and to exercise his power as he sees fit“.

The creator of the series Leslye Headlandexplains to Entertainment Weekly that he actually has things in mind for the future: “My philosophy was to really end the first season, giving the audience a good resolution that feels satisfying, but with enough nods to the mysteries that we would want to solve in a second season. I didn't want a story that was too closed like Obi-Wan Kenobi. And at the same time I think there's enough in the last episodes that bring answers..”

The screenwriter then confided that she had not started writing the sequel.Vince Gilligan, when he wrote and directed the first season of Breaking Bad, didn't really plan anything. He threw it all at a wall and figured out what to do next. I took the same approach. I put everything in Season 1 and then left four or five major mysteries and plot points that would have to be resolved in Season 2 of The Acolyte. But I don't want to get back into it until there's an official order (from Disney Plus). I know what needs to happen, and I know what the character development needs to be for a second, third, fourth season. So I'm looking forward to working on that, but right now, I haven't started..”
