What should we remember from the latest episode of the new Star Wars series on Disney Plus?

It was all in the title: the dark side took shape, most obviously, in the last episode of season 1 of The Acolytereleased this Wednesday on Disney Plus. And it's a bit the Jedi's fault anyway… Spoiler alert!

Because Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), full of good intentions and obsessed with the “Vergence” of the Force, killed Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith) and his Clan, provoking, 16 years later, the anger of Osha ((Amandla Stenberg). Upon discovering the truth, the former Padawan will be overcome by anger and kills her former Master in a rage, suffocating him with the Force – the famous grip of Darth Vader's claw! Her lightsaber switches from blue to red and Osha is now on the dark side, ready to become the apprentice of the mystery Sith (Manny Jacinto). An “Acolyte” in the lexicon Star Wars (equivalent to Padawan among the Sith). It was the title from the beginning…

This finale reveals in passing that his new Master has had a similar journey. He too was a Jedi student before going off the rails. We learn in this episode 8 that he was downright the Padawan of the all-powerful Master Vanestra (Rebecca Henderson).I need you to help me find my student who has turned to evil.” she said to Mae. Apparently, she thought he was dead. So what happened between them? Vanestra probably had something to do with his shift to the dark side, since she doesn't hesitate to compromise with the truth and morality, like when she blames the whole Brendok crisis on Sol in front of the Council!

Vanestra seems somewhat disoriented in this last episode and comes to seek advice from a Jedi Master even more powerful than her. A small being with large furry green ears: Yes, it's Yoda!Sorry to bother you, Master. We need to talk..” she says dramatically. This appearance by Yoda makes sense in the timeline of Star Wars as the character is hundreds of years old. He already appears from time to time in the novels dedicated to the High Republic. In a way, his total absence would have been difficult to justify. Yoda will therefore be very involved in the continuation of The Acolyte (not yet ordered). And we could even see his congener, Yaddle (who also appears in the High Republic novels)…

Because The Acolyte seems set to bridge the gap with the classic legend of Star Wars. Indeed, an apparition in the shadows, in the middle of this finale, risks changing everything. When Mae and the Sith take off for Brendok, a dark figure emerges from the cave to observe the duo. His identity has not been confirmed, but his appearance really resembles that of Darth Plagueis. This legendary Sith Lord was Palpatine's Master. Darth Plagueis the Wise is mentioned at length to Anakin Skywalker during Revenge of the Sith. We learn that he was obsessed with immortality, trying to manipulate midi-chlorians to create life and cheat death. Which the “Vergence” of the Force, on Brendock, clearly allows. We understand that it was he who pulled the strings, in the shadows, from the beginning and who guided the mysterious Sith. We know that Dark Plagueis, from the alien race of the Muun, was killed by his apprentice, Palpatine… and season 2 of The Acolyte should be largely dedicated to him!
