Scheduled for January 2025, and starring Lucy Liu, the director's new concept film is, for the moment, very mysterious.
His latest feature film had barely been presented at Sundance when Steven Soderbergh is already looking into Black Baghis spy film with Cate Blanchett And Michael Fassbender. This is NEON, the independent distributor of Presencewhich is thus responsible for making a very cryptic promo for this horror film which will feature Lucy Liu and a house, “inhabited by an unknown force”.
It's not much, but it's all we know about this film, and the fifty seconds that make up the first trailer of the film do not help us:
Nothing about the plot of the film, then, but if the idea was to send shivers down our spines, it succeeded…
Alongside the slow, agonizing camera movement, the titles of Soderbergh's greatest critical and popular hits appear on the screen: Sex, lies and video, Out of reach, Erin Brockovich, Paranoia, Ocean's Eleven, Contagion, Magic Mike, Traffic. Among them slips Presenceas if this new film was automatically included in this abundant cinematic heritage.
It is especially in the line of baby NEON that it is placed Presence : Cuckoo, Longlegs…indie horror films with concepts as cryptic as their trailers.
Here, the distributor relies mainly on the name of Lucy Liu – who certainly does not appear in these images, but remains the headliner of the film. She will be accompanied by Chris Sullivan, Callina Ling, Julia Fox, Eddy Maday And West Mulholland. David Koeppwho worked with Soderbergh on KIMI and on the famous Black Bag to come, signs the scenario of Presence.
According to this first video, we will have to wait until January to find out Presence in movie theaters.
