One person was killed and several others were injured after a tour bus driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes in a cruise pier parking lot in Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services and the Honolulu Police Department, the fatal crash occurred at 10:24 a.m. local time on Friday.

Authorities said a 57-year-old motorist was dropping off customers at the cruise port pier and was alerted by a passerby that his vehicle was moving.

Reacting quickly, the man jumped into the shuttle and attempted to stop the moving vehicle.

Authorities said they were continuing to investigate the collision and that speed did not immediately appear to be a “contributing factor” in the crash.

It is unclear whether drugs and alcohol contributed to the crash, police said.
