According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joe and Anthony Russo are currently in talks to direct the next two films AvengersThese discussions are said to be in the “early stages”, but calling on them seems perfectly coherent.

And for good reason, the Russos have already directed four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And not the most anecdotal ones: we owe them Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) then Captain America: Civil War (2016) and especially the epic conclusion of phase III: Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), the two biggest successes of the saga. Make two Avengers in a row, they know how to do it!

So bringing the Russos back to the fold seems like an obvious choice, especially since they themselves are having a bit of trouble making a splash elsewhere: they have made Cherry (2021) then The Gray Man (2022) for streaming platforms. And their big franchise Citadel for Prime Video has been flagging after the lack of buzz generated by the first season. Their next project, The Electric Statewill be released this year on Netflix.
