Route 28 construction: PennDOT gives update on reopening of ramps, lanes

Some good news for drivers on Route 28: PennDOT officials tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that the end of construction is near.PennDOT says ramps that are currently closed should reopen by the end of September. One exception is the Virginia Avenue Extension ramp, which should open by the end of October.Northbound lanes are anticipated to be open to two lanes of traffic by the end of October, with southbound lanes reopening to two lanes by the middle of December.In addition, PennDOT says the sound wall panels should be completely installed by the end of October, while paving, signal installation and line painting should be finished at the Freeport Road/Highland Park Bridge interchange in late October.
