The original director of the saga handed over the keys to the truck to Fede Álvarez and apparently he doesn't regret it.
Fans ofAlien will they be convinced by Alien: Romulus ? As the 7th installment of the Xenomorph franchise hits our screens this Wednesday, Ridley Scott wants to be reassuring: the film does not ruin the legacy of the saga Alien.
In an interview with Hollywood ReporterScott – who is a producer of the film, it should be noted – admits “to have been extremely relieved” when he saw Alien: Romulus.
“I was extremely relieved, because I saw that it had the potential to be a huge film, a big hit. And I said to Fede Álvarez: You don't need to take notes, but I'm still going to tell you what I think about it…”
The legendary filmmaker then shared his comments with the Mexican filmmaker in person. And his only complaint? The first cut was too long!
“Directors always tend to make things too long. This one was long too and we lost the rhythm. Except that in this kind of film, rhythm is essential. There was already a lot going on in the plot and he didn't need to put in so much.”
We will not know if Fede Alvarez corrected Alien: Romulus in the process, or if the version that comes out this Wednesday in theaters is the one that we saw Ridley Scott…
