Richards criticizes Fernandes’ behavior
Micah Richards criticized Bruno Fernandes’ body language as “pathetic” on The Rest Is Football podcast.
The former Manchester City defender said: “It’s getting embarrassing now. Enter the young Pellistri. Fernandes is trying to get his team to play and I totally understand why he’s frustrated.”
“Pellistri ran out, Fernandes didn’t see him and [so] he did a different career but because he was not where [Fernandes] wanted him to go, he goes to Pellestri.
“It’s always. I saw an interview with him the other day and he said that he needs to be excited when he performs because that makes him play better.
“But I feel like his body language on the pitch is bothering the rest of the team and it doesn’t look good at all. He’s pathetic sometimes.”
Ten Hag eager for reinforcements
Erik ten Hag is said to be desperate for some midfield reinforcements to arrive at the club following Mason Mount’s injury.
Mason Mount was injured against Tottenham Hotspurs, which has made Erik ten Hag need a midfielder even more urgently.
Amrabat remains the club’s number one target, but the Red Devils need to shed players before they can sign the midfielder.
United abandon the pursuit of Pavard
Manchester United have withdrawn from the race to sign Benjamin Pavard, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He said: “In the last 48 hours, Man Utd have told Benjamin Pavard’s agents that they are no longer in the running and the player can join Inter because they are not negotiating with any club for Maguire and expect him to stay.
“Only a new offer in the last days of the period can change the situation. For now, everything is very calm about Maguire, and for Pavard, he will be Inter ”.
The signing of Todibo is already “in sight”
Manchester United’s £34m move to Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is “in the offing”, according to GetFootball.
Erik ten Hag has been searching for a centre-back all summer despite uncertainty over Harry Maguire’s future at United.
Todibo’s contract at Nice doesn’t expire until 2027, but a move to the Premier League is likely.
United scouts watched Nice’s assistant captain play against Lille OSC in the opening game of Ligue 1 and were convinced.
Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard was also on United’s radar, but the defender prefers a move to Inter Milan.
Heaton names United’s best finisher
Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton named Anthony Martial the club’s best finisher, praising the many different ways he can make life difficult for a goalkeeper.
He said: “For me it would probably be Anthony Martial – he can bend it, he can whip it, he can go hard, he can lift it on you.
“He has that composure, that kind of calm in front of goal that makes it difficult for a goalkeeper.
“[As a goalkeeper] “A lot of times you want people to take an early shot or force them to do something, but with Anthony it’s very hard to affect him, so when he does score, it usually ends up in the net.”
Hojlund receives tips from icons
Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have told Rasmus Hojlund that he will need to be mentally strong to succeed at Manchester United.
On his new podcast The Rest is Football, Shearer began: “No [I was never afraid of the pressure].
“I can only speak for myself because I loved it. I’ve always been reluctant to call it pressure because everyone wants to be in our position.”
“When someone pays a lot of money for you, everyone looks at me and I loved it because I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s what I always wanted.’ I understand there’s some pressure on you to go out there and perform, but I think that’s a really good thing. “.
When asked for his opinion by Micah Richards, Lineker added: “For me, the most important thing is what’s between the ears. I think the mental strength and resilience to deal with spells when things aren’t going well, to deal with your A’s. Sometimes, due to abuse from my own fans, I felt like that was my strongest attribute.
“I don’t think he was a brilliant footballer, I don’t think he had enormous talent in terms of touch, technique and defeating players, but he was very resilient, very strong and he thought a lot about the game.
“I think the mental aspect, dealing with stress and pressure, is perhaps the most important ingredient of all.”
