Manchester United takeover is latest as Glazer sale “no closer to completion”

Manchester United’s tumultuous takeover saga looks set to continue for a while longer.

Suggestions this week to resolve the stalled sale led to a rise in United’s share price. At the time of writing, the price of the Reds on the New York Stock Exchange is up 5.59 percent on the day.

However, it seems there was rushed talk that the acquisition would eventually come to an end. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is reportedly still the favorite, but the sale does not appear to be any closer to being finalized.

The sale is no closer to being resolved

According to the Daily Mail, despite reports elsewhere suggesting a date may have been set to complete the acquisition, the Glazers are still no closer to selling. In a question and answer session with his readers, journalist Mike Keegan shared what he had heard about the sale.

“Until this morning I have been told that there has been no real movement since our last story that they were dealing with various interested parties,” he explained. “Still, I am saddened to report, [we] We don’t have a winner.”

1958 announces new protest plans

Manchester United supporter group ‘The 1958′ have announced new plans to protest the Glazers’ ownership of the club amid ongoing uncertainty over the takeover.

The fan group has urged those attending Saturday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford to take part in a 60-minute sit-in after full time as they continue to vent their anger at the American family. Nine months have passed since it was announced that they would “explore strategic alternatives” for investment, paving the way for a purchase.
