Hello and welcome to ECHO’s Liverpool news and transfer blog on Tuesday 23rd May.
Liverpool still have a mountain to climb in their unlikely quest for Champions League qualification, and it looks like they will have to settle for a Europa League place next season. Newcastle booked their place in Europe’s top competition with a draw against Leicester City on Monday night.
As attention turns to the summer window, the Reds are hoping to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton while Jurgen Klopp considers other options. Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch are among them, after the club’s initial plans to attack Jude Bellingham were shelved.
Elsewhere, there are suggestions that Liverpool could pounce on Harvey Barnes and James Maddison in cut-price deals from Leicester City if they are relegated. Crystal Palace duo Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze are also making the rounds at the moment, while Eze has broken his silence on such rumours.
