After discussing ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’, Sunny also opened up about her likes and dislikes for Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. We tell you that after the smashing success of ‘Gadar 2’, Sunny Deol became the newsmaker of August and now he is making headlines on the couch of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’.
During the rapid fire round, Karan Johar asked superstar Sunny Deol what he likes and dislikes about Shah Rukh Khan. Sunny first praised Shah Rukh by calling him ‘hardworking’ and later criticized him for turning actors into ‘commodities’. Karan was surprised by this. About Salman Khan, Sunny described him as a ‘good person’. And on what he doesn’t like, the actor said, ‘I think he’s making everybody into a bodybuilder.’
When asked about Akshay Kumar, the ‘Gadar 2’ actor said he likes his ‘timeliness’ and about his poor quality, he said he is doing ‘too many films’.
After ‘Gadar 2’ became a blockbuster, Karan Johar heaped praise on Sunny Deol. The film clashed with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’. Talking about it on ‘Koffee With Karan 8’, Sunny said, “I thought, ‘Okay my film is releasing and it hasn’t been successful for a few years’. I didn’t want any other film to do that. It comes back.
OK, but you can’t stop anyone. It obviously bothers you, but then I thought, does it matter? Let’s go with it. Ultimately, both the films did well.” Ghadar 2 broke records at the box office.
Asked if he had spoken to Akshay about Clash before its release, Sunny told Koffee With Karan, “Of course, I asked him. I said, ‘If it’s in your hands, please release it. You can go back and forth. But he said, ‘ No, two films can be released together.’ I said, ‘Okay, go ahead.’ I can only request, I can’t do more than that.
Ghadar 2, the sequel to 2001’s Ghadar: Ek Prem Katha, was released on 11 August. Anil Sharma returns to the director’s chair, with Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel reprising their roles as Tara Singh and Sakina. Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh also reprized the role of Tara and Sakina’s son. The period film also featured Simrat Kaur and Luv Sinha.
Meanwhile, on the work front, after the super success of ‘Gadar 2’, he will be seen working with Rajkumar Santoshi in his next film ‘Lahore, 1947’. Aamir Khan will produce this film. Apart from this, Sunny has a part in Anil Sharma’s ‘Apne 2’ which also stars Dharmendra, Bobby Deol and Karan Deol.
