Five people are being held responsible for the former Friends' death and will face very serious charges.
Almost a year later, the circumstances surrounding the death of Matthew Perry are still unclear and the investigation is ongoing. It reached a new milestone last night with the official indictment of several people implicated in his death, including his personal assistant and four other people, including two doctors. All were arrested and accused of having supplied the ketamine that caused the death of the actor of Friendsreports the New York Times.
Kenneth Iwamasa, personal assistant to Matthew Perrya doctor named Mark Chavez and an acquaintance of Perry, Erik Fleming, have also been charged with “organized crime” for distributing ketamine. Also among the suspects are Jasveen Sangha, nicknamed “the queen of ketamine,” and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, aka “Dr. P.”, who allegedly ran a “stash house” in North Hollywood.
The federal charges against the five defendants include “conspiracy” to distribute ketamine resulting in death, maintaining drug premises, altering and falsifying records related to a federal investigation, and numerous other drug trafficking counts.
“These defendants took advantage of Mr. Perry's addiction problems to enrich themselves.” “The United States Attorney for the Central District of California, E. Martin Estrada, said at a news conference Thursday (see video above). They knew what they were doing was wrong… Ultimately, these defendants were more interested in profiting from Mr. Perry than in his well-being. By filing these broad and serious charges, we are sending a clear message: If you sell dangerous drugs, we will hold you accountable for the deaths you cause..”
Matthew Perry was found unconscious in the hot tub of his Los Angeles-area home on October 28, 2023. He is believed to have succumbed to a dose of ketamine. A trial could therefore be imminent.
