IFFI 2023: The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has invited applications for the first edition of the Best Web Series (OTT) Awards. This information has been given in the press release of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The winner will be announced at the Goa Film Festival from November 20 to 28.
What is the purpose of the award?
The Best Web Series Award aims to honor and encourage rich OTT content and its creators, the release said. The release said, “It seeks to foster growth and innovation in the Indian OTT industry by promoting web series content created and exhibited for digital platforms. The award aims to promote regional diversity and creativity in the web content industry, including content produced in regional languages, and promote OTT content in Indian languages.
Know what the winner will get?
Notably, the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, which will be shared equally between the director, producer and producer/production house/OTT platform. The Best Web Series award will be given to an original web series on an OTT platform, originally filmed and available in Indian language. According to the release, applicants should submit entries through the prescribed online entry form, which is available on the award’s website: https://bestwebseriesaward.com/. Online entries can be submitted till 25 August 6 PM. Apart from online submission, stamped and signed hard copy of submitted online application along with supporting materials must be received by 31st August.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur announced that a new category will be added to the International Film Festival (IFFI) Awards, which will recognize the ‘artistic quality, superior storytelling style, technical skill and overall impact’ of the programme. Will be given for demonstration. Anurag said on Twitter on Tuesday evening that the ‘Best Web Series Award’ will be given to an original web series on an OTT (over the top) platform, originally filmed and available in Indian languages.
