Sunny Deol in the role of angry young man Tara Singh is taking the box office by storm. He is rewriting history. In 2001, when Gadar released and was pitted against the Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan, Bollywood people allegedly tried to pull it down. However, the audience accepted and showered the film with love and now history is repeating itself with Ghadar 2. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film has earned well. 350 crore mark has been crossed in India. According to industry analyst Saknilak, it collected Rs 41 crore in the second weekend with a growth of 55 percent. The film has so far earned a total of Rs 377.20 crore in India and Rs 435.1 crore worldwide.
Ghadar 2 Box Office Collection
Sunny Deol’s Ghadar 2 is making a bang every day. This movie is breaking all box office records. Despite competition from Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Ghadar 2 took a strong start and collected a whopping Rs 41 crore on its first day. After that, its total collection is Rs 377.20 crore. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film collected 23.28 crores in its first weekend. On Sunday, August 20, 2023, Ghadar 2 had an overall Hindi penetration of 72.60%. It is the second biggest Saturday after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 26.5 crore), The Kashmir Files (Rs 24.8 crore) and Pathan (Rs 22 crore).
Gadar 2 breaks Pathan’s record
Ghadar 2 has also surpassed Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320 crore). It has climbed to the fifth position, surpassing Tiger Zinda Hai (339 crores), PK (340 crores) and Sanju (342 crores). Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathan’ collected Rs 28.50 crore on its second Sunday, but Ghadar 2 broke this record and created history by earning double. Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathan’ has a lifetime net business of around Rs 543.09 crore. Gadar still has a long way to go but looks like the film will go all the way to ‘Pathan’ and break its record too.
These films cannot move theaters
Here OMG 2 did a business of Rs 10.53 crore. On the other hand, there is a slight increase in business on Sundays. As per the initial estimates, the Akshay Kumar starrer’s film had earned 12.70 crores. Like OMG 2 Jailor is also behind Ghadar 2. According to early estimates, the Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan starrer has collected 18 crores on its second Sunday. The Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer sports drama is progressing at a slow pace and seems to be heavily affected by the business of Ghadar 2, OMG 2 and Jailor. This is likely to generate an income of Rs 1.50 crore.
Hema Malini praised Gadar 2
Hema Malini was the latest celebrity to praise Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’. The veteran actress-politician watched the film on the night of August 19 and interacted with people. He said, “I have come after seeing Gadar. It felt so good. It was as expected. Very interesting. The 70’s and 80’s seemed like the film era of our time. Anil Sharma ji has brought that era, he has directed very beautifully. The actress added, “Sunny is excellent, Utkarsh, Anil Sharma ji’s son has also acted beautifully, the new girl is also very good. Seeing this picture, one feels a lot of love towards the country. Sunny Deol will be seen in Border 2
Sunny Deol, who is currently basking in the success of Ghadar 2, has now reacted to reports that he is gearing up for a sequel to Border. In this regard, he wrote a note on Instagram saying ‘I have not signed any film’. He wrote, “Some news is coming that I have signed some films, I would like to say that right now I am only focusing on Ghadar 2 and getting your love. I have not signed any film and will do something specific at the right time. Will announce things. Till then keep showering love on Tara Singh and Ghadar 2.”
