The end of life of Samuel Beckett will be at the center of Dance First, Think Latera biopic from Magnolia Pictures, starring Gabriel Byrne in the shoes of the famous playwright. The trailer has just been unveiled.
The film is directed by James Marshwho signed the biopic on Stephen Hawking: A wonderful story of time (2014), nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Marsh had previously won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for The Tightrope Walker (in 2008).
Dance First will tell the story of Samuel Beckett's life and rise to fame, including his love affair with a French woman, Suzanne. Faced with Gabriel Byrnewe will thus find Sandrine Bonnaire.
The synopsis goes like this: “Literary genius Samuel Beckett lived a multifaceted life: Parisian bon vivant, World War II resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, womanizing husband, recluse. But for all the adulation he received, he was a man acutely aware of his own failings. An in-depth account of the life of this 20th-century icon.”
Aidan Gillen, Maxine Peake and Fionn O'Shea also star.
Dance First will be released on digital platforms on August 16.
