A Florida mother wanted to give her son a special and unforgettable 13th birthday, so she asked others in the community for help.

Marie posted on the Tampa Bay Fishing Club Facebook group to see if anyone could take her son, Stash, fishing on a boat for the first time since she became a single parent and the quotes for charters were beyond her price range.

“To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this post, but I was blown away by the number of amazing people who suggested and commented,” Marie told Fox News Digital via email.

Through that post, she contacted Capt. Todd Young of Reel Memories Fishing Charter, who has been running charters for six years in Tampa Bay waters.

“Initially [Marie] I was looking for a charter just for son and it can be very expensive. A group of people asked him to help donate the entire price of the trip to get him out because he was a great kid,” Young said.

He added: “It was so nice to see everyone willing to help him out for a fun day of fishing. I thought about it for a few days and contacted the mother to tell her I would 'would take his with him for free.'

Young, Marie, and Stash all ventured out on a fishing boat on Stash's birthday.

“It was the best birthday I’ve ever had being able to fish on a boat and catch that many fish, and I definitely want to do it again,” Stash told Fox News Digital via email.

“If he could, he would fish every day, all day, and he learned everything he knows by watching YouTube videos and tutorials,” Marie said.

On the charter, Young helped teach Stash some new fishing techniques.

“In a world that is now all electronic, I was so relieved that my son found a passion outside of video games,” Marie added.
