Donald Trump Jr. He told an MSNBC reporter to “get out of here” during a tense on-air exchange at the Republican National Convention Monday after being asked about the former president’s immigration policies.
Trump Jr. and his brother Eric were approached for an interview by MSNBC's Jacob Soboroff at the RNC convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where their father, former President Trump, officially became the GOP nominee just two days after surviving an assassination attempt.
Trump Jr. touted his father's accomplishments during his four years in office before dismissing Soboroffs' question that former President Trump was “a divisive figure.” Trump Jr. accused the media of creating “divisions” around him.

“They lied about Russia, they lied about collusion with Russia, they said he was a traitor, they went after him in every way they could,” Trump Jr. said. “If the media would start being an honest broker, talking about what he’s done, the prosperity he’s brought, the peace deals he’s signed around the world instead of the disaster that we’re in right now, I think it would do everybody in the country a great service.”
The exchange turned heated when Soboroff, who wrote the book “Separated: Inside an American Tragedy,” asked whether the former president planned to impose family separations for a “second” time as part of his immigration policy if elected president and denied Trump Jr.’s claims that this had happened under the Obama administration.
“This is MSDNC, so I expect nothing less from you clowns, even today,” Trump Jr. retorted, adopting his father’s oft-invoked nickname for the left-wing network.
“Even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait, you couldn’t wait with your lies and your nonsense, so get out of here,” he continued, waving the reporter away while returning his attention to the convention stage.
Trump's eldest son has never been one to shy away from contentious exchanges with the media. In 2019, he famously got into a heated argument with his co-hosts of “The View,” accusing Joy Behar of wearing blackface makeup to prove that “we've all done things we regret” when asked about controversial moments from her father's past.

Trump Jr. on Saturday shared a photo of his father covered in blood with his fist raised, moments after the attempted assassination of the former president.
“He will never stop fighting to save America,” he wrote alongside the photo.
The shooting at Trump's rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday – in which one spectator was killed and two others were seriously injured, while a bullet grazed his ear – changed the tone and raised the stakes of the convention.
