In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Hugh Jackman, who was supposed to have graduated from the role of Wolverine in “Logan,” makes a miraculous comeback. You'll have to watch the film to find out how he will appear, but the top priority must have been to not taint the legacy of “Logan,” which is highly regarded as a “masterpiece” among fans.

In an interview with the director, Shawn Levy said that he had been friends with James Mangold, the director of “LOGAN” for a long time. Mangold, who jumped into the American comic book movie world with “The Wolverine” (2013), has since worked on “Ford v Ferrari” (2019) and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (2023), and has become a big hit. Like Levy, he has also been chosen to direct the new “Star Wars” movie, and is one of the most notable filmmakers in Hollywood right now.

“Obviously, I saw Logan and I think it's a masterpiece,” said director Levy. After watching Logan at the theater, he was so impressed that he called Mangold right away.

“I don't know you, but I love your movies. And this one is my favorite. Would you like to have lunch with me?” I said. And we had a long talk over lunch. I was just a fan of his, so it was like an interview about the perfect movie “LOGAN.”

When Wolverine was to reappear in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” he apparently spoke with Mangold along with Hugh Jackman before production began.

Mangold was friendly at the time: “He knew that our film wasn't doing anything against Logan, and he also knew that everyone involved in the production of Deadpool & Wolverine was a Wolverine fan, and Logan in particular. So we had fun dealing with the Logan legacy, but at the same time we paid a lot of respect to it.”

Levi is a huge fan of “LOGAN” and director Mangold. He also teased that “this is expressed in a certain scene in the film,” so let's look forward to seeing it in the film.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” will be released worldwide on July 24, 2024. “Logan” is available to watch on Disney Plus, so why not rewatch it before seeing this film?
