“I have emphysema from smoking for so long, so I'm stuck at home whether I like it or not…”
If rumors of new film projects from David Lynch come back regularly (his Animation Film Snootworld on Netflix? A secret project unveiled as part of the Cannes festival?), the director of Sailor and Lula, Blue Velvet And Mulholland Drive hasn't made a film since Inland Empirein 2006. Nor a series since the third chapter of Twin Peaksdesigned once again in collaboration with Mark Frost, already 7 years ago. A sequel that had turned the brains of Laura Palmer's early fans upside down.
Twin Peaks Ending Explained
On the cover of Sigh and Soundthe 78-year-old filmmaker explains that he can no longer leave his house without putting himself in danger. After smoking for many years, he reveals that he suffers from emphysema, a serious lung disease:
“I have emphysema from smoking for so long, so I'm stuck at home, whether I like it or not… I can't go out. Because of Covid, it would be very bad for me to get sick, even from a simple cold.”
Since the end of the broadcast of Twin Peaksduring the summer of 2017, David Lynch released several short films : What Did Jack Do?, Ant Head, The Story of a Small Bug, I Have a Radio… Minimalist and strange works that he was able to film from home. He also got into the habit of communicating with his fans via his video blog, for example to deliver weather points. He also recently appeared in The Fabelmans by Steven Spielberg – as an actor, even if his role was a nod to the profession of director.
