A tip on a child endangerment case sent in to police led to the arrest of multiple sex offenders, the Allegheny County Sheriff says. Sherrif Kevin Kraus said his detectives were alerted that that 34-year-old Joseph Neidermeyer, wanted since earlier this month by Ohio Township Police on charges of endangering the welfare of children and simple assault, was residing in a motel on Route 60.Authorities were unable to find Neidermeyer at the motel, but did find him a short time later at a business down the road from the motel. Kraus said another man, Lee Chew, was with Neidermeyer at the time of his arrest. Chew is a registered sex offender who Kraus said had recently left the Renewal Center without permission and was the subject of a state parole detainer. After the arrest of Chew and Neidermeyer, the sheriff’s office learned two additional sex offenders who had left the same center and had detainers were also at the motel. Detectives later found Amber Avery and Anthony Ditton. All were taken into custody without incident. Chew, Avery and Ditton were charged with failure to register under Megan’s Law.The sheriff did not reveal the name and address of the motel. All five were taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
