Also starring Ariana DeBose and Russell Crowe, this newcomer to the Sony Spider-Man Universe will be released in theaters on December 18, 2024.
We needed a new trailer to remind us of the release of Kraven the Hunterscheduled for the end of the year. Sixth installment of the Sony Spider-Man Universe, this origin story The Marvel Comics supervillain's release has been delayed several times: once because of the writers' and actors' strike that rocked Hollywood last year, and then a second time, probably to leave room for the flop of Madame Web time to fade.
Moreover, as we can see in these new images, Sony has rebranded Kraven as the anti-Madame Web. Darker, very first degree, very bloody… Nothing laughable in short (except perhaps the accents, and even then). If Madame Web was aimed at a very wide audience, this coming-of-age is aimed at a more mature audience, and without regrets! “In December, the hunt is open”we can read in the trailer below. And what a hunt!
The recipe is simple: two or three torn heads, a pinch of daddy issuesa series of car chases, a cloud of pyrotechnics and an arsenal of weapons, each more elaborate than the last, muscles, muscles, and, the cherry on the cake, the voices from beyond the grave of Russian-speaking gangsters.
But, the secret (not so secret) ingredient of Kraven the Hunterthis is his casting. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is far from Kick Ass and carries the film, surrounded by Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola And Christopher Abbott in the role of the Stranger, this mysterious assassin who monitors the slightest actions of Calypso, the Chameleon, Rhino and Kraven.
Let us recall that the latter has a very specific and very personal mission to accomplish: to take revenge on his father and his organization, responsible for the death of his mother and for having left him for dead after his confrontation with the lion whose bite gave him superhuman strength.
Before discovering Kraven the Hunter in theaters on December 18, we will know if the Sony Spider-Man Universe has managed to recover after its last fiasco with the release of Venom: Last DanceOctober 30.
