From the popular children's book “Paddington Bear”A fourth live-action 'Paddington' film and a new TV series are in the works.This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The Paddington series is based on the book Paddington Bear by Michael Bond and tells the story of Paddington, a bear who is a bit clumsy but kind-hearted and loves his family and marmalade. The first film was produced in 2014, the second in 2017, and the third film, Paddington in Peru, is scheduled for release in the UK in November 2024. It is produced by France's StudioCanal and Britain's Heyday Films.
This information was announced by StudioCanal at Brand Licensing Europe 2024 in London, England. CEO Françoise Guillonnet and Head of Global Sales Sissel Henault gave keynote speeches, explaining “Paddington's journey from a classic character to a global cultural phenomenon.”
While they said it was too early to share details, they did announce some good news for fans.We are currently developing a new TV series and film for release in 2027 and 2028.”The film will be a commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the series. The current TV series is the animated series “Paddington's Adventure” (2019-), which was broadcast on NHK E-Tele in Japan.
“Of course, the big event for the StudioCanal family is the release of Paddington in Peru,” said Guillonnet, referring to the third film, which depicts Paddington's return to Peru. Henno explained that Paddington returns home “to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy,” and promised that the film will be full of fun, Paddington-like elements. The film will be released in the UK on November 8, 2024, and in the US on January 17, 2025.
Guillonné also announced that he will be performing Paddington the Musical in the West End with Sonia Friedman (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) at the end of 2025. He also mentioned the launch of a TikTok page and an experiential event called the Paddington Bear Experience, and announced the release of a Roblox game in November 2024. “The Paddington entertainment train will keep running for years to come.”
